SAFE SCHOOL PLAN

OUR HEALTH PRACTICES

Cleanliness: Teachers sanitize and disinfect classroom toys, tables,
cots, walls and floors daily. Infant rooms wash sheets daily and the
older classrooms wash sheets and blankets weekly.

First Aid: 90% of our staff members are trained in First Aid and CPR. Emergency supplies are kept on site and are examined and restocked on a regular basis. We also have an emergency defibrillator on site.

CONTROLLED ACCESS & SURVEILLANCE

Single-Entry: We have a secured front entrance for the main building, as well as our Pre-K/School-Age Building.  A member of management is available in the front office area to greet and assist visitors.

Front-Door Code: Our front doors are locked at all times and accessible only by using a code.

Daily Sign-in: Each child is signed in and out daily and can only be released to parents/guardians or those who are on an approved pick-up list. We use an updated software system, PROCARE, which allows us to photograph all enrolled children, their parents/guardians and authorized contacts. We even store photos of unauthorized contacts set as an alert.

Surveillance: We have video cameras installed in every classroom, the cafeteria and the outdoor play areas.  We record up to 30 days of footage and then download and store the video on disks so that any date in question is available for review.

PLAYING IT SAFE!

Playgrounds: Our playgrounds are considered an extension of our classrooms and as such, it is important that they are safe, clean and most of all, fun! Our playgrounds are separated by age with age-appropriate equipment present on each. Every teacher has been trained to supervise the children while they climb, slide and explore our playgrounds.

Inspections: Staff conduct daily inspections, checking for sticks, broken toys and other hazards before play. Weekly and monthly inspections are also executed.

Sanitization: Staff sanitize each playground both before and after play.

Maintenance: During each inspection, a maintenance checklist is filled out. This checklist is then used to perform routine upkeep and maintenance on each playground, ensuring a safe environment for play.

EMERGENCIES

Emergency Drills: Fire and tornado drills and safety training are an important part of the school curriculum. By practicing how to exit the building quickly and calmly, children and staff learn how to respond in a timely and orderly manner were a real emergency to transpire. Drills are conducted at least three times on an annual basis so that everyone is familiar.

At the highest level of threat, police may be called, and the Directors may need to issue a written note to parents to advise them about the situation or provide further information to them in person or by phone. In the most severe situations, the directors may be instructed to close the school. If there are any injuries, paramedics may be called as well. Any visitors to the campus may be asked to produce photo ID and escorted to part of the building where they need to go. A Crisis Team may be called in to provide counseling and support to children, parents and staff members.

We encourage parents to update their emergency contact information at least once every school year, and throughout the year to advise office staff if their contact information changes.
